An invitation from the Service-Learning Program

The Casady Service-Learning Program just signed up to bring an awesome new film called Kindness Is Contagious to Quail Springs Theater on Wednesday, September 16, 2015 at 7:30 PM. It’s a new way of viewing a movie called Theatrical on Demand.  You reserve your ticket ($11.25 per person) with a credit card @ https://gathr.us/screening/12710  Your credit card is charged if the movie tips.  You will receive your ticket via e-mail.   

The way this works is that we picked the theater,Garth provided a date and now, we get to invite people to attend.

Kindness Is Contagious, directed by by filmmaker David Gaz, is a feature documentary film about being nice and the benefits of being nice. Kindness Is Contagious features best-selling authors and scientests from major universities like Harvard, Yale, Berkeley and many more. The filmmaker asks one question: What is the nicest thing that anyone has done for you? Street performers, soup kitchen volunteers, police officers, models, CEOs, baseball players, roller girls, concert pianists, artists, and many more tell you their heartfelt stories of kindness and generosity.

Quail Springs Theater needs to know several days in advance of the screening if a minimum number of tickets have been reserved, so be sure to go to the site soon. Please, tell anyone you know who might be interested. The more the merrier! You will only be charged for the ticket if we’re successful in getting the minimum (or more!) of reservations!

In 2007 Universal Peace Day began ringing BELLS FOR PEACE & A WORLD WITHOUT WAR at the exact moment of the Hiroshima bombing.

We, The World is a Co-Sponsor of this annual event which is part of and supports both the Disarmament and Peace Campaigns of 11 Days of Global Unity - 11 Ways to Change the World

OKC activities during 11 Days of Global Unity already as calendar listing

a. Peace Day, Monday, September 21
United Nations Association of Greater Celebration at 6:30 PM Location:  OCU Great Hall, McDaniel Student Center.  Speaker panel with inspirational choral performances by teen choirs.  Theme: Building Bridges.  Dinner before the celebration available for  $ 7.00 at the OCU cafeteria adjacent to the Great Hall.  There is also a wide variety of restaurants at Classen.   Grand House is a Casady favorite.  If we  decide to attend and share a meal together, I hope we will consider making it a Recipeace Meal. http://recipeaceday.org/

b. Disarmament Day: Sunday, September 20, 1:30-5:00  Oklahoma Conference of Churches Interfaith Youth Tour.  Cost $15 per person.

c. Freedom Day: Saturday, September 19, 8:00-3:00 Day of Kids Festival @ Boys and Girls Club.  The Food Bank also welcomes volunteers in the morning and afternoon shift

d. Saturday, September 12, Interdependence:  Food Bank Volunteer Day:  UD S-L Program and MD SEE Program

e. Friday, September 11 Unity:  Service evening at Boys and Girls Club: Casady Service-Learning delivers seedlings from the Department of Forestry to plant at OKC homes. 
2. Oklahoma Standard of the Oklahoma City National Memorial and Museum 

Intentional connection to the Oklahoma National Memorial and Museum, Oklahoma Standard....

We could have a visit to the museum in August to learn more.  

Mrs. Clay will be happy to complete the application form to get YAC / YLOKCasady free admission to the museum and a guided tour by education coordinator Lynn Porter and Oklahoma Standard facilitator, Zac Fowler

The museum's coordinator of the Oklahoma Standard is new and they do not have a full documentary, but there is one  that we might promote as a YLOKC /Casady YAC/ Mercy School Institute documentary in the month of August or September:   Kindness is Contagious
