Greetings: 

My name is Priya Desai and I serve as the Advocacy Director of the United Nations Association of Oklahoma City. 

The reason I am contacting you is to invite you two free events we will be hosting in September to honor the International Day of Peace with the hopes that you will join us and participate. 

The first is a Peace Walk during the Turkish Cultural Festival on September 9, 2017, at the Myriad Gardens, in which we will have a walk around the block of the gardens in honor of International Peace Day. We will have three brief speakers to kick off the march at 2:00 p.m. We will also have a table for people and organizations to leave messages of peace on several pinwheels which we will collect for the second event on September 21, 2017, at the state capitol, from 6-8 p.m. where will plant these pinwheels on the grassy knoll on the south side of the capitol building. We will also be having brief speakers at the Capitol event. 

We are encouraging organizations, classrooms, families, and individuals to join us at both events. We would also like to encourage you to create your own pinwheels if you like. You can purchase your own pinwheels at Oriental Trading Company (http://www.orientaltrading.com/) or create your own -Template for pinwheels link a suggestion by Casady School Service-Learning Program at: (http://www.pinwheelsforpeace.com/Pinwheels_for_Peace/home.html). 
Please, laminate paper pinwheels.  Paper gets flimsy and wet. 

You are more than welcome to drop off your pinwheels at the Turkish Cultural Festival on September 9, 2017, between 2-4 p.m. so that we can plant them with/for you during the event on September 21, 2017.
